Stewardship

WE FOCUS ON RESPONSIBLE PRACTICES

The nature of the trees we work with are rare and valuable. Our process respects this fact.

Music Spruce Canada believes in innovative and high-value uses for wood in British Columbia. We prioritize making the most of the wood sources we work with.

Managing a forest often means removing a tree once it passes maturity. Its growth rate will slow and it may begin stop plants from growing beneath it. The time comes to thin the forest so other timber can grow, light can reach the ground and wildlife habitat can be improved.
MSC practices selective logging, by removing only individual trees. We also provide stewardship options to large forest companies in taking the best of the harvest and producing one of the highest-caliber end products that wood can be manufactured into. Something highly regarded in many societies. Both are ways of practicing resource stewardship and maintaining forest health.

STEWARDSHIP

WAYS WE DO THIS:
• Waste wood in a biomass boiler to heat our shop and supplement our kilns.
• Bark is used to make topsoil for local vegetable growers and provide landscaping material for homeowners.
• Sawdust is used as a direct replacement for chemical fertilizer supplying most of the vegetable fields in our immediate area.
• By-product woods are used for secondary manufacture of wooden products, for example fruit boxes.
